PRESS RELEASE: February 22, 2016
Monday, February 22, 2016 (Washington D.C.) The H2-B Workforce Coalition released the following statement regarding the U.S. Department of Labor, ETA-Office of Foreign Labor Certification’s Emergency Processing Initiative for Backlogged H-2B Applications:
Small businesses that depend on temporary and seasonal workers are facing serious harm due to the Department of Labor’s delay in processing H-2B applications. The failure to adequately prepare for changes to the program enacted by Congress last December is not an excuse for putting hundreds of full-time American jobs at risk.
We hope that Secretary Tom Perez and the Department of Labor follow through on the promise to remedy this situation by implementing its H-2B Emergency Processing Initiative announced last week. Time is running out to ensure that American small businesses can meet the seasonal demands of their customers
The H-2B Workforce Coalition is a consortium of various industry associations throughout the United States that have joined together to protect American workers by ensuring American small and seasonal employers have access to legal short-term temporary workers during peak business periods.
